Restaurants Roll Out Online Ordering
Although it can be a real thrill to be seated at a restaurant enjoying some of your favorite dishes, there may be times when you just don’t like leaving the comfort of your own home to eat your favorite meal. Well, help is at hand and you can now go online and order not only your favorite food but also have the choice of a variety of other delectable dishes. Domino’s is a specific food chain that has been offering online ordering for quite sometime. Because, ordering online is quick and easy, people are going to continue to use the service. Many more restaurant chains are also starting to use this service.
I think that this is a great way to attract more customers to restaurants. Many times when I go to a restaurant, I get the same thing I always get because I am unsure of other options and often feel rushed when ordering. With online ordering, not only can you create a pizza at your convenience, but also you are more aware of your options. It also benefits the restaurant by tracking purchases and allow for troubleshooting, such as figuring out why an order is delayed.
MenuDrive was developed for the Pizza Industry. Many Pizza restaurants have benefited from using MenuDrive to increase sales and improve business operations. Please check out www.menudrive.com for more information.
What do you think? Do you prefer waiting and eating at restaurants or fast and easy online ordering? Why do you prefer one over the other?

MenuDrive to Sponsor the Orlando Pizza Show this Sunday
Pizza is one of the most often-added menu items in today’s restaurant industry and with excellent reason! This year MenuDrive will be sponsoring in part this event. As part of the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Show, PMQ’s Orlando Pizza Show is the ideal place to see what is new in the industry and see a variety of new pizzeria products. You will also be able to taste hundreds of new foods from around the world, learn from experienced restaurant owners, and network with many owners and operators. Whether exhibiting or attending, the Orlando Pizza Show is a must! The show will take place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando from September 12-14, 2010.
It is not just pizzeria ideas, it is a time for them to compete and earn “bragging” rights. At the event there will be a Gluten-Free Pizza Contest. The convention will also host the U.S. Pizza Team Trial Competitions where dough spinning pizza acrobats will compete for the chance to compete on the U.S. Pizza Team in the World Pizza Championships. How cool is that? I never even knew that there was such thing as pizza acrobats!
I think this show is a great way for experienced restaurant owners as well as beginners to get together for some pizza networking fun!
Marketing Tips taken from Pizza Chains
This week, I read an article from QSR Magazine about cell phone marketing. The article highlights how pizza chains have been trend setters among the restaurant industry when it comes to mobile marketing. There are tips all restaurant owners can use to be noticed by customers.
I found that many of the techniques the pizza chains use are simple to initiate. For example, customers can be added to an SMS messing campaign list to receive alerts for sponsored events, promotions, coupons and giveaways. By simply collecting phone numbers and compiling them into a list, restaurant owners can create excitement.
One of the coolest options for me was the store locator. With some pizza chains, you can text them your zip code and find the nearest shop. This is a fabulous feature for those of us who need to find restaurants around the office, a college or shopping mall. You can also add your phone number to a texting list on their website and set ‘favorites.’ Then customers can text FAV1, FAV2, etc, to the restaurants and have their order delivered to their home or office.
What do you think? Could text campaigns be the next big thing? Should MenuDrive compliment future releases of their online ordering software with these options?
